Welcome letter

Congratulations to your place at the EnvEuro - Master's Programme at SLU. We are looking forward to meeting you here in Uppsala this autumn!

The autumn semester begins with a compulsory introduction to the program in Copenhagen, Denmark, 20-23 August 2019. These introductory days include the start of the compulsory course Environmental Management in Europe.

The autumn semester at SLU starts with roll call Monday 2 September 08:45 in Loftets hörsal (Auditorium), Ultuna (see the map).

You are also invited to attend an orientation programme at SLU 29-30 August, where you will be given essential and useful information about your stay in Sweden and your studies at SLU. This programme takes place before the semester starts. You find all information that you will need as a new student at SLU at the page New student. On this page you will also find more information about the roll call and orientation programme.

General information about the EnvEuro master programme is found at the international EnvEuro web site.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Once again, welcome to SLU and the EnvEuro programme!

Tobias Vrede, programme director of studies.

Application process

The rules for application differ slightly between the different universities in the EnvEuro Master’s programme. Below is a summary of the most important steps for applications to SLU. It is very important that you read the full instructions for application at the programme web site.

Year 1 with SLU as “home” university

The application consists of two compulsory steps:

  1. Application to the EnvEuro consortium. EU/EEA/Swiss citizens apply between 1 February  and 1 April. Others apply between 15 November and 15 January.
  2. Domestic Swedish application to the EnvEuro Master’s programme at universityadmissions.se. Swedish citizens apply between 15 March and 16 April. Others apply between 16 October and 15 January.

The language requirement that is mentioned on the EnvEuro web site is absolute. National grades in English are not sufficient.

In addition to the application to the entire Master’s programme, you also need to apply for the courses you want to take during your first year (except the compulsory course Environmental management in Europe, to which you will be automatically admitted). This is also done after you get your admission recommendation from the EnvEuro secretariat and following the instructions in that letter.

By the end of the first semester, you select a specialisation within the programme, and your host university. This will be handled by the central EnvEuro secretariat.

Year 2 with SLU as “host” university

You apply for all courses you want to take during year 2 at SLU through the Moveon system. The deadline for application is 15 April.

Independant Project

What are the rules for those doing an independent project as part of the EnvEuro programme?

In order to be awarded the degree of Master of Science, you must carry out an independent project/degree project at master level (A2E) worth at least 30 credits. All independent projects have a course syllabus and the course schedule indicates when these courses are offered.

How do I find a subject and a supervisor? Find out more on the general pages about independent projects

What specific requirements are there for the independent project on my programme? These are indicated in Appendix 3 of the programme syllabus.

General guidelines for independent projects at SLU

Work plan A work plan must be drawn up for all independent projects. You will do this together with your supervisor.

Grading criteria Available on the course web page for each course
