SLU and the Swedish Institute offers a limited number of scholarships to outstanding international students.
Scholarships offered by SLU
SLU offers a small number of scholarships each year. Out of hundreds of applicants, only a few are selected as recipients. This means there is a high competition and that the applicant needs both very good grades as well as a well-written motivational letter.
Who can apply?
Scholarships are available for fee-paying students admitted to Bachelor’s and Master's programmes.
SLU accept scholarship applications for the Bachelor’s programme Forest and Landscape and to all SLU Master’s programmes except the following:
- Outdoor Environments for Health and Well-being
- Erasmus Mundus Plant Biology (EmPLANT+)
- European Master in Animal Breeding and Genetics (EMABG)
A scholarship offered by SLU covers tuition fees only, no living or travel expenses are included.
You need to pay the application fee even if you apply for a scholarship.
All fee-paying students, including scholarship recipients, are also covered by comprehensive medical insurance through Kammarkollegiet FAS+ during the entire study period. You can read the full terms of the insurance on Kammarkollegiet’s website.
How to apply
All students who apply for an SLU Master’s programme or our Bachelor’s programme Forest and Landscape as their first choice by the 1 February deadline will receive instructions on how to apply for a full tuition waiver scholarship.
The instructions will be sent to all applicants who have paid the application fee in the beginning of February. It is not possible to have the application fee waivered. The deadline for scholarship applications is 28 February.
The selection process is based on a combined assessment of the applicant's motivation letter and previous university grades. No CV or reference letters is required from the applicants. Only about 1% of applicants receive the scholarship.
Scholarships offered by the Swedish Institute
