Data center migration on June 28–29 will affect the IT systems.

Published: 19 May 2025

To modernize the university’s IT environment, a large-scale data center migration will take place on the weekend of June 28–29. This affects the availability of the IT systems.

To modernize the university’s IT environment, a large-scale data center migration will take place on the weekend of June 28–29. Several smaller migrations are being combined into one coordinated effort to:

  • Reduce long-term disruptions
  • Eliminate network bottlenecks
  • Improve performance, stability, and security through the transition to Network 2.0

During the migration, network traffic for servers and systems will be rerouted, and new firewalls will be put in place. IT will monitor the process closely and restore systems in order of priority.

What to expect

Temporary outages in network access and key systems, including VPN, internal systems, and internet access at affected sites. Some external cloud services will remain unaffected.

Schedule

  • Start: Saturday, June 28 at 08:00
  • High-priority systems: Available within 2 hours
  • Other systems: Restored gradually over the weekend
  • Follow-up: IT will monitor closely the following week; minor disruptions may occur

What you need to do

  • If responsible for a system: Coordinate with your IT lead and inform users
  • If working that weekend: Plan around the limited IT access
  • If not working: No action needed, but stay informed via the staff web

For questions, consult the FAQ, your IT coordinator, or system owner. Real-time updates will be posted on the staff website.

Thank you for your support in future-proofing the university’s IT environment.
