SLU gets new system for scheduling and course planning
For a long time, students have asked for an entirely digital schedule; at the same time, SLU’s education administration needs system support that more easily integrates different functions within the university’s organisational operations. In order to meet these needs, SLU will introduce a new system called TimeEdit during the 2019/2020 academic year.
An important aspect of the work to double our student body by 2027 is being able to offer modern system support for educational programs. Within SLU, there has long been a desire to reduce the number of educational management systems and instead try to find solutions that integrate different aspects of education administration together in a seamless manner.
TimeEdit meets these requirements as it is a holistic system with support for electronic schedules, booking teaching facilities, planning schedules, organizing work and course hours, and exam management. TimeEdit will be introduced in different phases at SLU during the 2019-2020 academic year. At the same time, the current booking and scheduling system, KronoX, will be phased out.
Different units within the organisation will be affected and involved
during the project's duration. In the project description (in Swedish), there is a rough time plan for the introduction and the different stages of the project. The project group for the TimeEdit project will develop a detailed time plan for the switch from KronoX to TimeEdit.
The project is a collaboration between the Division for Learning, Media, and Digitalisation, the IT Division, and the Division of Facility Management.
