SLU professors talk about the value of trees in Swedish radio

Published: 31 May 2017

The International Science Program in Swedish radio P1, Klotet, was hosted on May 24 by the SLU professors Per Berg and Anders Malmer.

They talked about how trees can dampen sounds, spread coolness, moisture and clean air pollutants in urban environments. In some dry agricultural land, the trees can even fill the groundwater.

New knowledge about the characteristics of the trees begins to imprint city planning and green areas in the cities are becoming more important. At the same time, the pressure on cities is increasing, with more people moving in and residential areas are densifying.
