New summer school course: Animal Welfare and the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The Graduate School for Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences offer a 3.0 credits course in June for PhD students in animal science, veterinary medicine, food science or related subjects. Although having its primary focus on farm animals, the course will be relevant to students working with all categories of animals.

Course date: June 17-20, 2019
Location: Uppsala

After completing the course, you be able to:

  1. Assess relationships between animal welfare and the UN sustainable development goals.
  2. Relate your own research to animal welfare and the UN sustainable development goals.
  3. Map knowledge gaps related to animal welfare and sustainable development.
  4. Participate in cross-disciplinary discussions on future challenges related to animal welfare and sustainable development.

The course will include 4 days (3 nights) of workshops and lectures in Uppsala, with reading and individual project work assignments before and after the workshops. The workshops aim to achieve cross-disciplinary knowledge transfer with other students, international researchers and practitioners in animal welfare and sustainable development.
