After completing the course, the student should be able to:
demonstrate the ability to understand and analyze communication situations in environmental and food supervision with regard to one’s own and others’ responsibilities, roles, exercise of power, learning, gender equality, constructivity and destructiveness
demonstrate the ability to analyze conflicts and conflict processes that may arise during environmental and food inspection
show the ability to reflect on ethical issues as well as on experiences of communication in the exercise of authority
show knowledge of and some ability to handle communicative strategies and tools
be able to account for risk assessment and risk management and show the ability to evaluate quality management systems
Demonstrate the ability to apply food and management legislation
Demonstrate the ability to apply control methods in the field of food
Content
The course is divided into three parts:
Government Communication (5 credits)
Basic theory and concepts about environmental communication and conflicts
Meeting methodology
Written communication in environmental supervision
Conversation methodology
To exercise and meet power in connection with environmental supervision
Reflective conversations and other reflection methods
- Administrative Law and Food Law (5 credits)
- food and management legislation
- Food supervision including internship (5 credits)

Internship at an environmental inspection authority (including food and animal welfare inspection) including reflection on experience gained
Grading form
The grade requirements within the course grading system are set out in specific criteria. These criteria must be available by the course start at the latest.Formats and requirements for examination
Oral, practical and written exams and work reports.
Passed exams. Submitted internship diary with completed reflections on experiences made. Approved reports of information and approved attendance at compulsory moments.
If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
For the assessment of an independent project (degree project), the examiner may also allow a student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.

The right to participate in teaching and/or supervision only applies for the course instance the student was admitted to and registered on.
