Hej och välkommen till lantbruksvetenskapskursen!
Undervisningen är planerad för att ges i sal på campus och digitalt via Zoom. Observera dock att schemat är preliminärt. Var därför noga med att stämma av eventuella schemauppdateringar innan kursstart.
Kursintroduktionen kommer att ske den 15 januari 2024 kl. 09:15–12:00 i Sal K. Det är obligatoriskt att du deltar på introduktionen!
Vi kommer att använda plattformen Canvas som du får tillgång till efter att du har registrerat dig på kursen i Ladok. På Canvas kommer det att finnas information, handouts och mycket annat. Där hittar du också en länk till Zoom som kommer att användas under kursens gång.

The course intends to provide the students in the agronomist programme in food science knowledge of and an understanding of the preconditions of the agrarian sector, functions and interaction with the other society.
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
define the most important preconditions for plant cultivation, its important components and technologies and outline the environmental impact from the feed production
define the animal food products from commodity perspective their technological properties and quality,
define how food companies are built-up and the importance of and regulatory framework around support and contribution within the animal production,
use and understand keywords that describe the economic situation in a company
define important aspects of rural and agricultural policy, economics and national and international political organisations,
describe social, cultural and economic preconditions for rural development,
argue and problematize around sustainability issues within Swedish agriculture.
Content
At lectures, seminars, project work and exercises, the economics of the agriculture is treated, resources, methods - including technology - for production of products and services with a focus on Swedish conditions. The different components of the course are joined with a synthesis work that goes on during the whole course.
Grading form
The grade requirements within the course grading system are set out in specific criteria. These criteria must be available by the course start at the latest.Formats and requirements for examination
The aim of the course is assessed through written tests, oral presentations and approved participation in compulsory components e g seminars.
If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
For the assessment of an independent project (degree project), the examiner may also allow a student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.
Other information
The right to participate in teaching and/or supervision only applies for the course instance the student was admitted to and registered on.
If there are special reasons, students are entitled to participate in components with compulsory attendance when the course is given again. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.
