The aim of the course is to give students basic understanding of business administration and knowledge around the concepts and models that are used to describe and discuss firm organisation. The course should furthermore give an introduction to the educational program and give exercise in generic skills.
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
Describe a firm’s structure, culture, leadership and strategy by means of concepts and models from the organizational theory.
Account for a firm’s relations to its context.
Demonstrate the ability to use organizational theory related based concepts and models in exercises.
Apply different organizational theory related perspectives.
Describe the natural resources sector, with a focus on agriculture and animal husbandry and its importance in society
Search, critically review and discuss scientific literature in speech and writing.
Present completed work both written and orally.
Content
The course is carried out with lectures and guest lectures, seminars, exercises, project work and study visit.
The course gives an introduction to the firm’s world and organizational theory related perspectives with examples from agricultural firms.

- If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
- The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
- If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
- For the examination of a degree project (independent project), the examiner may also allow the student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.
