Research training

Research training is an individual course where the aim is to give an insight into research and development - how it is organized and implemented in practical terms. The course is only open for students of Plant Biology – master’s programme.

The research training can be carried out at research departments and institutions, companies or authorities connected to plant biology. You will get an opportunity to follow and to take part in the practical work. Compared to when you do a thesis project, you do not have to have your own project, but can work with several different tasks to get a complete picture of the place and the work carried out there. As part of the course you and your supervisor will chose literature, which covers a theory area in connection with the work. You then get to study and learn about this area. You and your supervisor also agree on how to examine the theoretical task. Furthermore, you are expected to write a report from the training period and give a short oral presentation at the training site.

Research training is usually done before the thesis project and may make it easier for you to identify a suitable thesis project or even a future work area! It can also be a good opportunity to see if you are interested in continuing with academic research.
