Build, bake, and compete – sign up for the gingerbread house competition in Umeå

Do you have what it takes to be this year’s master baker? Both students and staff are invited to build, bake, and show off their hidden talents in the SLU University Library’s most wonderfully scented competition!
SLU University Library's popular gingerbread house competition is back! So take a break from theories and exams, and let your creativity shine. Build a classic gingerbread house, or let your imagination run wild and create something completely unique. No idea is too big, too small, or too quirky for this competition.
All SLU students and staff in Umeå are welcome to join, either individually or as a team. The entries will be on display in the SLU Library from 1–12 December, and during that time, visitors can vote for their favorite. The winning entry will be announced on 15 December.
The exhibition opens on 1 December at 10:00 with mulled wine and gingerbread cookies – everyone’s welcome to join!
Registration and entry
Last date for registrations is 26 November:
Hand in your finished entry to the Service Center on 27–28 November between 8:30 and 11:30. Please bring your own tray to display your creation on.
Rules
The main structure must be made of gingerbread dough, and everything on the creation should be edible. Store-bought dough is fine, but ready-made houses are not allowed. You are welcome to add lights and other decorations.
You can compete either individually or as a team. Participation is, of course, voluntary and the baking should be done in your free time.
