The EU Birds and Habitats Directives for beginners. Species protection in forests.

internal events |

How do the species protection regulations in the EU Habitats Directive and the Birds Directive affect forests and forestry in Sweden? Johan Wester and Tove Thomasson from the Swedish Forest Agency will share insights on this topic.

These two directives form the basis of the EU's nature conservation policy and aim to preserve biodiversity through the protection of species, designated habitat types and other important habitats. During the seminar, we will talk about species protection and how it can influence forestry practices. Furthermore, they will address how the directives are implemented in Sweden, what challenges exist and how we can use a preventive approach for effective conservation while continuing to conduct forestry operations.
