Svante Axelsson, national coordinator for Fossil Free Sweden was appointed SLU Alumnus of the year 2019 for his contributions to sustainability. He is now coming to Campus Ultuna to receive his award and give a lecture.
Svante Axelsson is now leading the work to make Sweden one of the first fossil-free welfare countries in the world. He coordinates over 170 participants from various companies, municipalities, regions and organisations to help them develop roadmaps to reduce the use of fossil fuel.
Before taking up his current position at Fossil Free Sweden, he was Secretary General of the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation for 16 years. Today, the association has 224 000 members. In addition, Svante Axelsson has during his time at SLU, been an engaging and passionate teacher.
As a debater, he is also a published author and has been a host for the popular summer program “Sommar i P1” on the Swedish Radio.
