Hej,
Med hänvisning till Regeringens och Folkhälsomyndighetens nya restriktioner från och med 23 december har SLU uppdaterat sina anvisningar för undervisning och examination period 3 vårterminen 2022, med anledning av covid-19. I SLUs anvisningar står det ”Ur smittspridningssynpunkt är det angeläget att föreläsningar för stora studentgrupper i första hand genomförs digitalt.” Eftersom att ni förväntas vara omkring 120 studenter totalt så anses det vara en stor grupp och vi har därför valt att lägga alla föreläsningar digitalt i januari till att börja med. Studiebesöket och även övningen för Mark och växt-blocket planeras att ske på plats, se uppdaterat schema på kurshemsidan och i Canvasrummet. I Canvasrummet kommer du även åt zoom-länken till kursintroduktionen den 17 januari.

Hej och välkommen till lantbruksvetenskap för agronomer!
Undervisningen är planerad för att ges i sal på campus och digitalt via Zoom. Observera dock att de i schemat listade "salarna/forumen" är beroende av en fortsatt positiv utveckling av pandemisituationen. Var därför noga med att stämma av eventuella schemauppdateringar innan kursstart.
Kursintroduktionen kommer att ske den 17 januari kl. 09:15–12:00 i Sal W. Det är obligatoriskt att du deltar på introduktionen, eftersom att du då har möjlighet att ställa frågor i realtid.
Vi kommer att använda plattformen Canvas, där det kommer att finnas viktig information, handouts och mycket annat. Där hittar du också en länk till Zoom som kommer att användas under kursens gång.
Avslutningsvis vill vi påminna dig om att du måste registrera dig på kursen, inte minst för att kunna komma åt Canvassidor.

Objectives
The course gives students knowledge about the connection between animal production and the biological preconditions for agricultural production processes, and the preconditions, needs and actions of the producer, sector and systems from a Swedish perspective.
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
describe the most important preconditions for plant cultivation, its important elements and techniques, and account for its environmental impact,
describe the foods from a raw material perspective, their technological properties and quality,
explain how food companies are structured, as well as the importance of and regulations regarding support and subsidies,
use and understand keywords that describe the financial situation of a company,
describe important aspects of rural and agricultural policy, economics and national and international political organizations,
describe the social, cultural and economic conditions for rural development,
argue and problematize around sustainability issues in Swedish agriculture.
Content
The course focuses on Swedish conditions and addresses the year of plant production, the most important crops and technology and machines for cultivation. Organic plant production and different types of environmental impact from plant production are affected. The food chain, the processes and how the quality of food can be affected at farm level are included.
The course also deals with basic concepts in business administration, variable costing, the importance of product development and marketing and how support systems affect the individual company. Basic concepts in economics, including regulations and agreements of importance to agriculture, are included. In addition, various aspects of agricultural policy as well as aspects of rural development are discussed, such as rural policy, demographic development, rural history and conditions for different rural areas.
The connection between the different parts of the course and the relevance for animal production is obtained through case studies.
In the course, lectures are alternated with a project work in groups that is presented in writing and orally.
Compulsory components occur in e.g. exercises, study visits, group work and presentations. Argumentation techniques are trained in both practice and group discussions.
Practical relevance is obtained through study visits.
Grading form

Passed written and oral examination. Approved participation in compulsory components.
If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
For the assessment of an independent project (degree project), the examiner may also allow a student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.

Lärandemål och betygskriterier
Betyg 3 för lärandemålen examineras i ämnesmodulerna samt grupparbetet. Betyg 4 och 5 för lärandemålen examineras i det individuella arbetet.
Lärandemål Mark/Växt:
Redogöra för de viktigaste förutsättningarna för växtodling, dess viktiga moment och tekniker, samt redogöra för dess miljöpåverkan.
För betyg 3: Översiktligt beskriva växtodlingens förutsättningar i Sverige samt utvärdera detta för olika produktionsformer. Känna till olika jordarter och deras odlingsegenskaper. Känna till olika jordbearbetningsmetoder och deras syfte. Känna till de viktigaste grödorna, vanliga ogrästyper och skadegörare. Ge exempel på odlingens miljöpåverkan.
Lärandemål Livsmedel:
Redogöra för de i Sverige vanligaste livsmedlens teknologiska egenskaper och kvalitet ur råvara- och processperspektiv.

Beskriva sociala, kulturella och ekonomiska förutsättningar för landsbygdsutveckling.
