Designprojekt – Komposition och materialitet

The course is an intimate study of design where compositions of different materials in form, colour, texture and other characteristics comprise the medium. The design exercises are characterised by high complexity in interface situations between the functions, forms, ages and expressions of different materials. In the composition exercises, both built materials and vegetation are used, where the properties of the respective materials and their immediate impact and respective dynamics over time are exploited. The student will prepare design proposals where the expression and interaction of different materials are the main components. In experimental studies, the frame of reference is extended with understanding of origins and function-related characteristics of different materials. Questions about the materials relations to cost, durability and maintenance are also important.
