Cowater International Sweden is looking for 3 interns for the Fall semester 2024.

Application deadline: 2024-03-03

Key information

Job Title: Intern Position
Type: Full time
Position Location: Stockholm (Helsinki is also a possibility, although Stockholm is preferred)

Cowater Nordic, which has offices in both Stockholm and Helsinki, is currently looking for 3 interns for the fall semester 2024 (starting at the beginning of September 2024) within the business areas of Good Governance, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Natural Resource Management. This position provides a unique opportunity to work with diverse projects across the globe, in an international and inspiring environment, and with a company committed to building a better tomorrow.

About the internship

Through an internship at Cowater Nordic you will gain insights into how international development works in practice. You will have a chance to work on a broad range of subjects related to your assigned business area (from education to civil society empowerment or public administration, to land management, forestry, or food security, and monitoring and evaluation). You can expect to familiarize yourself with these subjects and their specific contexts of implementation. You will see how a private sector actor works in international development, gain insights into many of the leading bilateral and multilateral organisations – Sida, DANIDA, Norad, and MFA Finland, to name a few – and be given plenty of responsibility and opportunities to learn and develop your skills and yourself.

The intern will be primarily allocated to one of our business areas but might have the chance to work with other business areas during the internship. An important part of the work includes carrying out regular market analysis and research and assist us in identifying and preparing project opportunities and tenders. In addition, the intern will also support the development of the projects and the project management team in implementing activities and approaches that work towards sustainable international development.

As an intern you will receive comprehensive induction trainings about the private sector in international development, project management, budgeting skills and the technical areas of our different departments. You will also have a chance to learn negotiation skills and develop international communication skills.

Please note that the internship is unpaid, so please make sure that you have the means to support yourself financially during the period of the internship. The internship will take place at Cowater Nordic’s office in Sweden, located at Celsiusgatan 10, Stockholm.

  • Candidates should be in their last year of Bachelor’s Degree, or have started or recently obtained a Master’s Degree in a relevant field (International development, political science, sustainable development, etc).
  • They should also be enrolled in an internship course at university level or through Arbetsförmedlingen.
  • Interest in, and at least basic notions of, the field of international development is required.
  • Applicants must be fluent in English, while knowledge of Swedish and/or other languages is a merit.
  • Solid competence in working with Microsoft Office and Excel is a must, and we always welcome applicants with other IT skills who can help develop our organisation and internal processes!
  • Be authorized to come to Sweden for the purpose of the internship
