Field assistant positions at SLU
Field assistants needed at the Department of Ecology during the summer of 2017 (May to August).
A number of projects leaded by researchers from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) will be carried during this period in Skåne (Southern Sweden). We are looking for workers to assist in the field experiments with the data collection and sorting. Assistants will provide support to projects relating to landscape ecology, pest control, pollination, and management in agricultural landscapes. This work provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills in applied ecology, entomology and sustainable agriculture.
Duties: In the field, assistants will assist setting up and placing traps (sticky traps, pitfall traps, pan traps, etc.), collecting data from the traps, actively collecting individuals (hand netting and sweep netting) and monitoring native plants. In the lab, assistants will help with the sorting of the data collected in the field and assist with data entry.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a BSc in Biology, Ecology or related field. Strong interest in conservation biology, entomology, pollination biology, and/or field ecology. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a research environment.
