Climate change is one of the emerging issues in all over the world. Population increase, industrial development, increased use of motor vehicles etc. are the main reasons for climate change. Loss of greenery, wetlands & waterbodies, unplanned development causes urban heat island effects and causes climate change. Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh and a densely populated city. The chronological changes of the natural setting due to rapid urbanization in Dhaka city creates an imbalance in urban ecology, stormwater logging and creates different social issues. The aim of this thesis paper is based on addressing these three important aspects. Improving urban ecology, improving stormwater logging issues and considering different social aspects will combinedly lead towards a better living quality. Different methodologies have been formulated to provide certain guidelines to address these specific issues. An overall design proposal of urban green and blue structure is proposed to bring back the greenery and urban ecology to the city. Due to unplanned development stormwater logging has become quite common in the city this is the second aspect that is considered in the overall proposal of the city. From the social aspect, the overall proposal includes redesigning the slums/informal settlements better living by providing shelter, job opportunities and adding recreational values to the city. Lastly, this thesis paper presents different study projects from different country and context where different solutions, proposals and functions are observed in formulating guidelines and also in the overall proposal.
