Summary

The urban tree population is of great importance to our cities in terms of their ecosystem services. Although the urban trees often have to make way for the urbanization. Urban Avenues with their cultural-historical and natural values are protected under biotope protection, however at times circumstances demand even protected structures to be felled. Hertig Karls Avenue in Örebro, lost all its trees due to the elm-disease, The felling was carried out without a grant from the county administrative board and a promised new design is still not carried out. This project presents a design proposal for Hertig Karls Avenue based upon five different urban avenues, where different strategies and visual compostions has been studied.
